LONDON — Keaton Smith tossed a gem on the mound while Waylon Hensley continued to swing a hot bat at the plate as South Laurel delivered an 8-0 loss to Harlan on Monday.
The win notched the Cardinals’ 20th of the season, as they improved to 20-6.
South Laurel scored one run in the first inning before adding five runs in the fourth inning. The Cardinals pushed across an insurance run in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Hensley finished with two hits, one home run, four RBI, and one run scored. Smith went 2-for-3 with two RBI, and a run scored while Vince Sizemore and Tyler Curry both delivered run-scoring hits. Jack Vaughn, Keaton Creech, Austin Byrd, and Kamdin Dewees each finished with a hit, and a run scored apiece.
Smith tossed five scoreless innings allowing only three hits while striking out seven batters. Jamison West tossed a scoreless innings allowing only while throwing a strikeout. Bryson Turner tossed an inning, striking out two batters.
