Ronnie Collier named new girls’ varsity basketball head coach at Whitley County

WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County High School has found its new girls’ varsity basketball coach in Ronnie Collier.
Collier isn’t a stranger to Whitley County basketball.
He played for the Colonels’ boys’ basketball team and has had coaching stints as the Colonels’ boys’ and girls’ middle school basketball programs.
Collier becomes the Lady Colonels’ third varsity head coach in three years.
Sean Pigman stepped down as head coach two years ago after posing a 16-14 mark while Michael Petrey resigned this past season after turning in a 17-10 record.
Collier takes over a Lady Colonels program that possesses lots of young talent.
Madisyn Hopkins returns as the team’s leading scorer with a 12.8 scoring average. Other notables returning are Aubree Clemens (12.2 points per game, 10.1 rebounds per game), Khylea Ray Collier (10.1, 1.8), and Jonna Rice (7.7, 6.5).
Collier will attempt to lead Whitley County to its first 13th Region Tournament appearance since 2021, and its first 50th District title since 2012 next season.
