Kenzie Williams shuts down Pulaski’s bats during South Laurel’s 2-0 win

LONDON — South Laurel’s Kenzie Williams continues her impressive play in the pitcher’s circle during the Lady Cardinals’ 2-0 win over Pulaski County on Monday.

Williams turned in another complete game shutout out effort, limiting the Lady Maroons to only four hits while striking out six batters.

The two-run victory improves South Laurel’s to 19-4 while moving its win streak to nine games.

“Really good effort defensively,” South Laurel’s Carly Mink said. “In tight games, one or two plays can be the difference and we were able to play clean tonight.

“Kenzie had another great effort and has been very consistent,” she added. “Being able to play well behind her allows her to stay in the zone and challenge hitters.”

Williams led the way at the plate with two hits, and an RBI while Ryleigh Bretz finished with two hits, and a run scored. Skye Lawson connected with a run-scoring double while Addison Baker finished with a hit and Morgan Jackson scored once.

“We were able to play small ball to get runners into scoring positions to get two runs tonight and that proved to be the difference,” Mink said. “PC has a good team and these type of games certainly make you better.”
