LONDON — Tessa Monhollen turned in another solid effort in the pitcher’s circle while Emma Carl continued her red-hot play at the plate as North Laurel defeated Madison Southern, 6-4, on Tuesday while improving to 13-3.
Monhollen pitched all seven innings while allowing five hits and three earned runs. She also struck out five batters.
Carl went 3-for-4 at the plate, delivering a home run and a double while driving in two runs, and scoring twice. Lucy Jo Linville and Ellie Adams both had two hits, and an RBI apiece while Katie Sams, and Bella Sizemore finished with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored apiece. Katie Keen had a hit and a run scored apiece while Bella Finley finished with a hit.
“Pretty good game tonight,” North Laurel ouch Chris Edwards said. “Madison Southern played a very good game tonight and we were lucky to get out of it with a win.
“We got a good game from Tessa in the circle,” he added. “She had a couple of innings when they had some runners on but she managed to fight through it and get us out of it. She was a competitor tonight.
“Offensively, we had 13 hits,” Edwards continued. “Multiple hits from Katie Sams, Emma Carl, Lucy Jo Linville, Bella Sizemore and Ellie Adams. We had some extra base hits tonight also. We did leave too many on base tonight but those hits will come if we keep swinging the bats the way we are. We have South Laurel on Thursday and then a big weekend at the Capital City Classic in Frankfort. Go Jags.”
