WILLIAMSBURG — After scoring seven runs in the top of the sixth inning while building a 15-1 lead, it looked as if Corbin was set to cruise to an easy win over Whitley County on Tuesday.
The Lady Colonels showed some fight, though.
Angela Singleton’s squad scored seven runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning before falling, 18-10.
“What a night,” Corbin coach Crystal Stidham said. “I am proud of my girls. Our district games are always ones to watch. I am proud of my ladies. We have faced many changes and anything that has come our way and starting to get things clicking.
“Coach Singleton does a great job year in and out,” she added. “My girls looked better at the plate waiting for the right pitches. We were able to get runners on and big hits at the right times. We still have work to do but we will get there. Proud of them though! We were able to come away with the Big District win tonight. Let’s Go Lady Redhounds.”
