Lynn Camp’s rally falls short in 17-16 loss to Danville Christian 

CORBIN — Lynn Camp saw a 7-0 lead evaporate into a 17-16 loss to Danville Christian on Tuesday.

The Lady Wildcats (6-8) couldn’t overcome 10 errors that led to nine unearned runs.

Danville Christian scored eight runs in the top of the third to claim an 8-7 lead before adding four more runs in the top of the fourth to make the score, 12-7.

Lynn Camp answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut its deficit to 12-10 before Danville Christian added four more runs in the top of the sixth, pushing its lead to 16-10.

Nikki Hendrix’s squad answered with four runs of its own in the bottom of the sixth to make the score, 16-14, but Danville Christian added a run in the top of the seventh, expanding its lead to 17-14.

The Lady Wildcats had one final rally in the bottom of the seventh but could only muster two runs.

Emma Burnette and Madison Weymers both connected with home runs in the loss. Burnette finished with two hits, four RBI, and a run scored while Weymers had three hits, one RBI, and scored three times.

Lauren Partin led Lynn Camp with a perfect 5-for-5 effort while driving in a run, and scoring three times. Charity Steele was 4-for-5 with two RBI, and three runs scored while Cambree Prewitt delivered three hits, three RBI, and a run scored. Julie Moore finished with two hits, four RBI, and one run scored. Lily Henize had a hit and scored once while Bailey Martin, and Aniyah Hamilton both had a hit apiece.
