Christian Wilson tosses a gem, shuts down Corbin’s bats in 4-0 win

WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County pitcher Christian Wilson pitched a gem during Monday’s 50th District matchup with Corbin.

Wilson, who struck out four batters, limited the Redhounds to only four hits, and six baserunners while tossing a shutout during the Colonels’ 4-0 win.

The Colonels (11-2, 1-0) struck first in the bottom of the first inning before adding two runs in the second inning, and one run in the third inning.

The four-run lead turned out to be all Wilson needed.

“Good pitching, and good defense wins baseball games,” Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. “We had both of those today. Proud of Christian. Been fun to watch him grow. He’s becoming a bulldog for us. We were able to score early and make some defensive plays.”

EJ Allen went 1-for-1 with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored while Henry Bowling, Dee Parker, and Ronald Osborne both finished with a run and hit apiece. Kip Allen, and Ty Petrey finished with a hit and an RBI apiece.

Kade Elam, Lucas Tarvin, Ethan Abner, and Cooper McCauley each had a hit apiece for  Robin (8-7, 0-1).

Will Freeman took the loss, pitching six innings while allowing seven hits, and four earned runs. He struck out five batters.
