Lady Cardinals get back to winning ways with 9-4 victory over Hazard

LONDON — South Laurel sophomore Emmie Rice continued her dominance at the plate during Tuesday’s matchup against Hazard.

Rice delivered her 28th career home run and sixth of the season to help guide the Lady Cardinals (4-1) to a 9-4 win over the Lady Bulldogs.

She finished the game going 1-for-1 at the plate with a home run, an RBI, three walks and a run scored.

“Great win tonight,” South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. “Hazard is a really good team, and we did a lot of really good things tonight. Played well in all phases of the game but still learning and working on getting better each day.”

Rayleigh Bretz delivered two hits, an RBI and two runs scored while Kenzie Williams finished with two hits and an RBI. Skye Lawson had a hit, two RBI, and a runs scored while scored while Addison Baker delivered a hit and two RBI. Bailey Frazier finished with an RBI, and a walk. Audrey Likins and Morgan Jackson finished with a hit and a run scored apiece.

Williams notched the win, pitching a complete game while allowing eight hits and two earned runs. She struck out 10 batters.
