Williams tosses no-hitter, Ks 12 batters during South Laurel’s 10-0 win over Middlesboro

LONDON — Sophomore Kenzie Williams already looks in mid-season form after tossing a no-hitter while allowing only one base run during South Laurel’s 10-0 shutout out win over Middlesboro.

Williams tossed five innings, striking out 12 batters while walking one batter.

“Good win tonight,” South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. “We had a great performance by Kenzie tonight with a no hitter. We got some timely hits and rans the bases extremely well. It’s a good start to the year, but we have a long way to go, just have to keep working and getting better.”

The Lady Cardinals (2-0) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed, adding a run apiece in the second and third innings before pushing two runs across in the fourth inning to take a 6-0 edge.

South Laurel secured the win with a four-run fifth inning, pulling off the 10-run victory.

Addison Baker had a big game at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, three doubles and three runs scored while Morgan Jackson delivered two hits and three RBI. Bailey Frazier finished with two hits, an RBI, and three runs scored. Williams and Audrey Likins each added a hit and an RBI apiece while Rhyleigh Bretz had a hit, and scored once.
