MCKEE — Five players scored in double figures for North Laurel during the Jaguars’ 83-65 win over Oneida Baptist on Tuesday while North Laurel punched its ticket into the 13th Region Tournament during the process.
The Jaguars will now face-off against Clay County or Jackson County in Thursday’s 49th District title game.
North Laurel received Oneida Baptist’s best effort and only led 15-11 at the end of the first quarter before a 12-point effort by Reece Davidson in the second quarter pushed the Jaguars’ advantage to 40-25 at halftime.
Nate Valentine’s squad built a 60-45 cushion entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the Mountaineers, 23-20, in the final eight minutes to secure the win.
Davidson led North Laurel with 22 points while RJ Noble added 16 points. Corey Cunagin scored 14 points while Jordan Rawlings hit three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points. Kole Jervis knocked down two 3-pointers and scored 10 points.
Jacob Rogers led Oneida Baptist with 21 points while Skyler Roberts added 17 points, and Jason Erhunmwunse scored 15 points. Dennis Esemuede 10 points.
