WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg coach Anthony Hibbard is hoping his team can continue to gain momentum heading into postseason play and they took a step in the right direction on Monday with a 63-48 win over Middlesboro.
Led by Nate Goodin’s 16-point output, the Yellow Jackets improved to 17-8 with the win. Andrew Smith added 13 points while Lakin Cunagin added 10 points.
“Proud of our team for pulling out a win tonight,” Hibbard said. “We moved this game up due to the weather forecast. It was not a pretty game on our end, however we were able to do enough in the end. Proud of entire team, especially our seniors. Happy they could end their last regular season game at home on a high note.
“Now, we have to figure out how to keep this thing going,” he added. “Forecast is not encouraging, and I’m sure most teams across the state are scrambling to get games at the end of the season. Hopefully, we are able to get some quality days in the gym this week before the district tournament.”
