WILLIAMSBURG — The past few weeks have been rough for Melissia Douglas’ Williamsburg Lady Yellow Jackets, but they persevered and got back into the win column with a 45-25 win over Ligon Cogo on Saturday.
The win improved the Lady Yellow Jackets to 7-15 while snapping a five-game losing skid in the process.
“It’s been a long two weeks, but it’s great to see all 11 players back healthy and ready to go,” Douglas said. “The ladies really pulled together during a tough week with five games, three of which were district matchups. We definitely faced some ups and downs, but finishing with a win is such a great feeling.”
Presley Spicer finished with a double-double, scoring 10 points while finishing with 13 points. Brie Morgan followed with an eight-point scoring effort.
“Huge shoutout to Presley for leading the team with a double-double — 10 points and 13 rebounds — her performance was key tonight,” Douglas said. “And I can’t say enough about Brie Morgan’s energy and intensity on the floor. She really brought it and gave the team a huge boost scoring eight points. I love when we have eight of the 10 score. Proud of all the hard work everyone has put in.”
