MIDDLESBORO — Williamsburg was coming off one of its biggest wins of the season, but a weak layoff might have played a role in its loss during opening action of the Magic City Winter Classic on Saturday.
The Lady Yellow Jackets suffered their worst loss of the season, falling to McCreary Central, 52-31.
Williamsburg will be off Sunday, but will be back in action again Monday against Clay County with game time scheduled for 4:45 p.m.
“Low in numbers today, but it has truly shown we have just come off a break,” Williamsburg coach Melissia Douglas said. “This game reminded me of the Beechwood game, too many turnovers and mistakes in the first quarter. We are battling sickness and absence so that doesn’t help either. However, bottom line is we must come out ready to play. I was very impressed with Hansford, she shot very well and Creekmore does a great job moving the ball.”
