Pineville does it again, rallies from two sets down to beat Harlan

PINEVILLE — Pineville pulled off another dramatic comeback Tuesday night, rallying from a two-set deficit to defeat Harlan in five sets.

Harlan won the opening two sets 30-28 and 25-20, putting the Lady Mountain Lions on the brink of defeat.

Pineville responded by taking the third set 25-23, then carried that momentum into a 25-17 victory in the fourth to force a decisive fifth set.

The Lady Mountain Lions completed the reverse sweep with a 15-12 win in the final set.

“I love the trajectory of our team going into district play,” Pineville coach Sam North said. “Getting two reverse sweeps against two good teams in the last two weeks of the season is special.”

North also credited senior Kameran Evans for providing a major spark off the bench.

“I also have to give huge kudos to senior Kameran Evans who came off the bench tonight as a defensive specialist and changed the game for us,” North said.

Pineville had to adjust its lineup during the comeback but found a combination that helped the Lady Mountain Lions maintain control late.

“We had to play around with the lineup and run with the momentum deep into the fourth and fifth set, so overall super-happy to pull that one out,” North said.
