PINEVILLE — North Laurel battled back from early miscues in two sets, but Bell County was able to hold off the Lady Jaguars and secure a 3-0 victory in volleyball action.
Despite the loss, North Laurel coach Angela Singleton pointed to the match as an opportunity for her team to identify areas that need improvement and continue developing early in the season.
“Had some miscues early in sets one and three that we couldn’t overcome quick enough,” Singleton said. “They battled back and made those two very close. We have some weaknesses we still need to work on, which is common at this point in the season.
“Tonight, I told them we will step back on our court tomorrow and get right back to work, then again on Thursday for a district matchup and apply what we learned from tonight’s miscues,” she added. “These girls are never above learning or taking accountability, which I love about them. I’m always proud of them, and I will always bet on my Jags! It was a tough loss, but we will work on our game and get better.”
The Lady Jaguars found themselves having to play from behind after early mistakes in the first and third sets. North Laurel responded in both, making late pushes to keep the sets close, but couldn’t overcome the early deficits.
