WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County turned in a dominant performance Monday, using strong serving, passing and defense to sweep Harlan County in volleyball action.
“Proud of our girls for another great effort tonight,” Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. “I thought we took a good approach to the match. We had four service errors the first set, and I challenged them between sets to clean that up. We played really clean volleyball in the second set, with no service errors. Our passing and defense was really good tonight.
“I’m really pleased with our team morale and support these girls have for one another,” he added. “We look forward to heading to Berea on Thursday to take on a good Madison Southern team.”
The Lady Colonels took control from the beginning with a 25-11 victory in the opening set before delivering their most impressive performance of the night in the second.
After committing four service errors in the first set, Whitley County cleaned up its serving and committed no service errors during a commanding 25-4 second-set victory.
The Lady Colonels completed the sweep with a 25-14 win in the third set.
