ASHLAND — Corbin’s Nate Hill and Whitley County’s doubles team of Micah Jones and Jackson McLaughlin will be participating in their respective state tournaments next week, advancing to the round of 16 after picking up two wins apiece.
Hill will be participating in the singles state tournaments next week while Jones and McLaughlin advanced in the doubles state tournament.
Singles Play
Corbin’s Nate Hill continued his quest for a state title after winning his second match on Wednesday, 6-2, 6-1 over Lawrence County’s C. Hendrick.
North Laurel’s Gavin Martin dropped his second round match, 6-2, 6-0, while Whitley County’s Jacob Widener dropped a 6-0, 6-2 match to Morgan County’s A. Gunnell. Oneida Baptist’s Isaac Cho also lost his second round match to Ashland’s C. Peacock.
Doubles Play
Whitley County’s Micah Jones and Jackson McLaughlin notched their spot in next week’s round of 16 with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Russell’s B. Hajjar and H. Robinson while North Laurel’s duo of Ramon Shen and Carson Elza lost their second round match to Boyd County’s W. Blankenship and M. Lawson, 6-4, 6-3. Knox Central’s Noah Partin and Benjamin Hembree lost to Morgan County’s B. Johnson and G. Turner, 6-3, 6-3.
