No. 2 Whitley County extends win streak to 16 with rout of Russell County

WILLIAMSBURG — No. 2-ranked Whitley County continued its dominant stretch Tuesday, rolling past Russell County 15-0 to secure its 16th straight victory.

The Colonels improved to 28-2 after totaling 15 runs on 15 hits in the four-inning win.

“When we hit the ball like we did tonight we’re a tough out,” Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. “Hats off to our guys for hitting the ball all over the ballpark. EJ was really good tonight and so was our defense. Look forward to postseason which is right around the corner. We want to be playing our best baseball.”

Whitley County wasted little time taking control, scoring seven runs in the first inning before adding one in the second inning, four in the third inning and three more in the fourth inning.

Ethan Allen led the offensive attack, going 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBI and two runs scored. Henry Bowling also drove in three runs while collecting three hits, and Cooper Parman added three hits and scored three times.

The Colonels received production throughout the lineup as Kip Allen drove in three runs, Ty Petrey knocked in two and Dee Parker finished with two hits and an RBI.

Ethan Allen also earned the win on the mound, tossing a four-inning shutout while allowing just three hits and striking out four.
