Panthers keep rolling: Knox Central extends streak to 13 with win over ranked Boyle County

Knox Central’s red-hot run shows no signs of slowing down.

The Panthers pushed their winning streak to 13 games Monday, knocking off state-ranked Boyle County, 3-2, in a tightly contested matchup.

“Great baseball game tonight,” Knox Central coach Mike Bright said. “Trevor Smith threw a gem and also delivered a huge home run in the first inning. We played a complete game tonight. The game came down to a sac fly hit by Hayden Melton. Our guys did there job tonight. Great job by Easton Ramsey closing it out.”

Knox Central (20-6) struck early, scoring two runs in the first inning to seize momentum before adding what proved to be the decisive run in the third inning.

Trevor Smith led the way offensively and on the mound.

Smith went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI while also earning the win after working five innings. He allowed just two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out five.

Hayden Melton added a big effort at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, while Ethan Ramsey chipped in a hit and later came on to secure the save opportunity with two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out two.
