WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County wasted no time putting Tuesday’s 50th District matchup away against Williamsburg.
The Colonels scored 10 runs in the first two innings before pushing across 11 runs in the third inning to secure a 21-1 win over the Yellow Jackets.
The win improved the state’s No. 2 ranked team to 19-2 overall and 4-0 against district opponents while Williamsburg fell to 6-8, and 0-4.
Eli Powers notched the win on the mound, allowing one hit and no earned runs while nothing six Ks.
Twelve different Colonel players recorded hits in the win with Kip Allen leading the way. Allen had two hits, one was a home run, three RBI, and scored twice. Powers, Dee Parker and Shamal Allen drove in two runs apiece while Cooper Parman went 2-for-2 with two RBI. Luke Hillard, Case Croley, Petrey, Brayden Stephens, and Colt Ramsey each drove in a run apiece.
