Lady Jaguars hold off Clay County with 11-4 win

MANCHESTER— Behind big nights from Emma Carl and Katie Sams, North Laurel continued to roll.

Carl and Sams sparked a balanced offensive attack at the plate as the Lady Jaguars pulled away for an 11-4 win over Clay County on Monday.

Carl led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Sams added a 2-for-3 performance with two runs scored, two RBI and two walks.

North Laurel’s bats remained hot throughout, finishing with 15 hits.

Bella Finley and Tessa Monhollen each drove in two runs and connected with two hits while Lucy Jo Linville added two hits and an RBI. Reeselyn Garland, Caylee Singleton (also drove in a run) and Katie Keen all added hits.

The Lady Jaguars broke things open in the third inning, scoring seven runs break a three-all tie. 

Monhollen picked up the win in relief, going 5.1 innings while allowing just one run on five hits with six strikeouts. Carl got the start, working 1.2 innings.
