Lady Panthers cruise in 19-0 rout of Somerset Christian

BARBOURVILLE — It didn’t take long for Knox Central to make a statement.

The Lady Panthers (3-7) exploded for 12 runs in the first inning and never looked back, cruising to a 19-0 run-rule victory over Somerset Christian on Monday.

Knox Central piled on seven more runs in the second inning, ending the game after just three innings behind a dominant performance both at the plate and in the pitcher’s circle.

Blakely Castle led the charge at the plate and in the pitcher’s circle, 

The sophomore went 1-for-2 with three RBI and also handled business in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout. Castle allowed just two hits while striking out seven and walking one over three innings.

Sydney Grubb was a spark at the top of the lineup, finishing 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBIs while also collecting a triple. Shelbi Smith added a big night as well, going 1-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Abigail Hensley delivered a home run and finished with two runs scored and an RBI. Jenna McCreary also went deep, adding a home run while going 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Emily Jordan and Bailey Hubbard scored three times with Hubbard adding a hit and Jordan collecting one hit.
