Lady Generals pick up road win over Rockcastle County

MOUNT VERNON — Jackson County used a late offensive surge to pull away and defeat Rockcastle County, 7-4, on Tuesday.

The Lady Generals (5-2) struck early with two runs in the first inning, but Rockcastle County answered and kept the game tight through the middle innings.

After Rockcastle tied things and trailed just 2-1 through three, the game remained within reach heading into the final innings before Jackson County broke it open.

The Lady Generals scored two runs in the sixth and added three more in the seventh to create separation and secure the win.

Tilly Truett earned the victory, allowing two runs over four innings. Sophia Martinez closed things out, striking out four over the final three innings.

Jackson County finished with eight hits, led by Kylie Moore, who scored twice and drove in a run. Ella Sallee added a strong performance at the plate with a double, an RBI, and a run scored, while Baylee Berry, Lexi Brockman, and Kylee Martin each contributed hits.
