LONDON — Jamison West had a field day at the plate while Jacob Culler turned in another stellar effort on the mound as South Laurel’s lead won its opener on spring break with an 11-4 win over Ohio’s Perrysburg High School.
West dominated at the plate, turning in a 3-for-5 effort at the plate while driving in seven runs, and finishing with three stolen bases. He also scored once.
Culler improved to 2-0 while tossing four inning, allowing four hits and two earned runs, and finishing with two strikeouts. Jackson Catching tossed three innings of relief, allowing two hits, and one earned run while fanning two batters.
South Laurel (6-1) led 4-0 after three innings of play, and 5-3 entering the bottom of the fifth.
The Cardinals pushed across two runs in the inning while putting the game away with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. They outhit their opponents, 10-6.
Reece Noble delivered three hits, an RBI, and four runs scored while Waylon Hensley, scored four times in the win. Culler delivered two hits while Wilkelver Gaviria-Zuleta added a run scoring hit.
