Bretz powers South Laurel past Estill County

LONDON — South Laurel stayed unbeaten in dominant fashion Friday, rolling to a 14-0 win over Estill County.

The Lady Cardinals (2-0) broke things open early, scoring seven runs in the second inning before adding four more in the third inning to take complete control.

South Laurel finished with 14 runs on 12 hits while also drawing seven walks in a balanced offensive performance.

“Got a great pitching performance from Aubrie Messer, allowing only two hits,”!South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. “Offensively, we were able to get runners on and do some things on the bases that put pressure on their defense. Timely hits led to some big innings with home runs from Ryleigh and Kenzie.”

Ryleigh Bretz led the way with a huge game at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a home run, three doubles, and four RBI. Kenzie Williams added a home run and drove in a run while Morgan Jackson chipped in three RBI.

Skye Lawson collected two hits and drove in a run, and Aubrie Messer added a hit and an RBI to help fuel South Laurel’s offense.

In the circle, Messer was in complete control, tossing a two-hit shutout over five innings while striking out three and walking three.
