No. 5 Indians snap No. 8 North Laurel’s 14-game win streak 

LONDON — Two of the state’s top 10 teams battled each other Thursday with No. 5 Madison Central knocking off No. 8 North Laurel, 61-49, snapping the Jaguars’ 14-game win streak.

Knox Central transfer Grayson Burton knocked down seven 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points for the Indians while Jake Feldhaus added 15 points.

“We played very poorly and Madison Central had everything to do with that,” North Laurel coach Nate Valentine said. “Give them credit. Im hopeful we can learn some things about ourselves and use tonight as a positive moving forward.”

North Laurel (22-5) held a slim 11-9 lead at the end of the first quarter but trailed, 25-22, at halftime.

The game was nip and tick throughout the second half with the Indians holding a 42-36 edge entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the Jaguars, 19-13, during the game’s final eight minutes. 

After scoring only two points in the first half, Reece Davidson finished with a team-best 16 points for North Laurel while Kaiden Allen added 12 points, and Corey Cunagin finished with 10 points. Jordan Rawlings added nine points, and Cooper Elza finished with two points.
