Ellis turns in 42-point scoring effort during Corbin’s 69-58 win over Belfry

CORBIN — Tony Pietrowski’s Corbin Redhounds needed a win in the worst way Monday, and they got it.

Powered by Evan Ellis’ 42-point scoring effort, Corbin snapped a three-game losing skid while handing Belfry a 69-58 loss.

Ellis was on fire from the second quarter on.

After scoring two points in the first quarter, he added 13 points in the second quarter, 12 in the third quarter, and 15 in the fourth quarter while finishing with five 3-pointers and a 13-of-14 effort from the free-throw line.

“Good to pick up a win,” Pietrowski said. “We played with excellent effort this evening which is encouraging. Quality win as Belfry has a very good basketball team. They are long and athletic and well coached. We need to continue to improve if we want to compete in the postseason.”

Trey Person added 15 points in the win for the Redhounds while Keaton Smith finished with five points, Dalton Henderson scored four points, Eli Pietrowski added two points, and Mason Salmons chipped in one point.
