BEREA — Whitley County lost a heartbreaker on Saturday, falling to Evangel Christian, 91-85, in overtime.
The Colonels (17-6) faced a 65-54 deficit entering the fourth quarter before tying the game at 78 apiece to force overtime.
Evangel Christian took over in the extra period, pulling off the six point win.
“Good game for our guys,” Whitley County coach Eric Swords said. “We let them gap us to 13 late in the third. But did a great job to battle back, proud of our guys for that. We had a good look at the end of regulation to win it. In overtime, I thought we forced some possessions that cost us. Evangel has a really good and athletic team. We will learn from it and be ready to go on Tuesday.”
