Lady Cardinals remain unbeaten in 50th District play

WILLIAMSBURG — Tod Winland’s South Laurel Lady Cardinals took care of business Tuesday, defeating Williamsburg, 69-6.

The Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 30-1 lead and never looked back while remaining unbeaten in 50th District play at 4-0.

The win improved South Laurel to 16-5 overall, and 7-0 against 13th Region opponents.

“Came out and did what we wanted to do and put the game away early as we raced out to a 30-1 lead,” Windlan said. “We played 1/2 man the rest of the game and no starters played the entire fourth quarter and it was good to see a lot of kids play and play well.

Kenzie Fannin and Skeeter Mabe had 12 points to lead us, Callie Jones had nine. Seventh graders Mia Bowling and Zoey Church scored their first varsity points of their career tonight.We play Thursday at North in a big region 13 game. Go Cards.”

Thirteen players scored in the win for the Lady Cardinals with McKenzie Fannin’s 12 points leading the way. Skeeter Mabe followed with 10 points while Callie Jones added nine points. Ryleigh Bretz, and Shelby Smith chipped in six points apiece.

The loss dropped Williamsburg to 5-11 while remaining winless at 0-5 in district play. Abby Moses led the Lady Yellow Jackets with three points.
