LONDON — Jeff Davis’ South Laurel Cardinals got a big win over 12th Region power Pulaski County on Tuesday, pulling off a 60-59 win.
In just his second game with the Cardinals, Joe Smith hit two 3-pointers and led South Laurel with 18 points.
The Cardinals trailed 16-12 heading into the second quarter and 33-28 at halftime before outscoring the Maroons, 21-10, to take a 49-43 lead into the fourth quarter. Kaiden McQueen scored four of his 14 points in the fourth quarter while Smith knocked down a 3-pointer to secure the win for South Laurel.
“Really proud of our guy’s resolve and toughness tonight,” Davis said. “Had huge play from our bench tonight, they really stepped up big time. We continue to get better each game, just have to continue to improve in a few areas.”
Kaden Taylor also scored in double figures for the Cardinals, finishing with 13 points while hitting two 3-pointers.
