Colonels Open KSA Holiday Tournament with Blowout Win

ORLANDO, Fla. — Whitley County opened KSA Holiday Tournament bracket play in fine fashion, defeating Republican Nashville 76–43 on Monday.

The Colonels improved to 9–2 on the season with the win, pulling away after a slow start to take control of the game.

Tootie Mahan led the way for Whitley County with 23 points while Henry Bowling added 14. Levi Jackson and Shamal Allen both finished with 11 points, and Riley Fuson and Garrett Sharp chipped in eight points apiece.

Whitley County coach Eric Swords said he was pleased with how his team responded after the opening quarter.

“Good win to start bracket play,” he said. “We got off to a rough start in the first quarter but responded well the rest of the game. We will have to be much better in the morning as we play Musselman High School out of West Virginia, who is ranked anywhere from second to eighth in the state depending on the outlet. But that’s what we came down here for, so I know our guys will be ready.”
