Lady Cardinals’ losing skid hits three games after losses to Cooper and Calloway County on Sunday

South Laurel’s losing skid has hit three games after falling to Calloway County and Cooper on Sunday.

The Lady Cardinals (8-4) posted an 0-3 mark during their stay in the Joe Lay and Sons Christmas Classic.

South Laurel fell to Calloway County, 59-40, as Ryleigh Bretz scored 10 points in the loss.

“Played a great first three quarters but once again didn’t play for 32 minutes and they made us pay for it,” South Laurel coach Tod Windlan said. “They have a very good team with a nice post player and very good guard.”

The Lady Cardinals fell to Cooper for the second time this season — this time around, 66-48.

Maci Messer and Callie Jones led the way for South Laurel with 12 points apiece.

“Got off to a poor start and fell behind early,” Windlan said. “We had really good looks and just couldn’t buy a basket. We continued to play and cut into their lead in the fiurth quarter. We obviously have some issues to work on and fix.”
