Bell County Uses Depth, Defense to Reach Semifinals

PINEVILLE — Bell County put together another impressive performance on Saturday, rolling past Morristown East 72–34 to advance to the semifinals of the third annual Redmond Auto Group Holiday Classic.

The Bobcats, now 6–2 on the season, controlled the game from start to finish while showcasing their depth, with 11 different players finding the scoring column.

Gavin Barton earned Player of the Game honors, leading Bell County with 15 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting. Ethan Buell matched him with 15 points of his own while shooting 5-of-6 from the floor. Jaxon Thomas added 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting, and Blake Burnett chipped in eight points in the win.

Bell County coach Brad Sizemore was pleased with his team’s energy and execution throughout the contest.

“Our guys came out again tonight with a lot of energy,” he said. “Our press was as good as it’s been all year early. We had several guys that got involved. I felt like we found the open man and got a lot of points in transition, I was really pleased with how a lot of kids played and how we shared the ball. Hopefully, we can come ready to go Monday and give ourselves a chance to play in the finals.”
