Second-Half Surge Lifts North Greene Past Clay County

Clay County saw a halftime lead slip away as North Greene rallied for a 64-53 victory, dropping the Lady Tigers to 3-3 on the season.

The Lady Tigers trailed 15-14 after the first quarter but found their rhythm in the second, outscoring North Greene 16-7 to take a 30-22 lead into halftime.

Clay County carried momentum into the third quarter and built a 12-point advantage early, but North Greene responded with a strong surge to regain control, taking a 43-38 lead into the final period before pulling away down the stretch.

Maci White led Clay County with 20 points and three rebounds. Carly Fultz added eight points and six rebounds, while Anna Samples finished with seven points. Lauryn Sizemore contributed seven points and three steals in the loss.

“Tough loss against a talented team,” Clay County Gemma Gray said. “North Greene won over 30 games last season, so it’s great we put ourself in position to win the game, being up 12 early in the third quarter, but these are games we’re having to learn how to finish. I’m proud of our effort, and we’re looking to bounce back tomorrow.”
