Lady Yellow Jackets hang tough before falling to Jellico, Tenn.

WILLIAMSBURG — Melissia Douglas’s Williamsburg Lady Yellow Jackets hung tough during their matchup with Jellico, Tenn. before falling, 58-44.

Williamsburg (1-4) had three players score in double figures as Braylee Evans led the way with 18 points while Ellie Breeding scored 11 points, and Abby Moses scored 10 points.

“We came out in the first half with a great mindset and moved the ball very well,” Douglass said. “We ended up losing by 14, and giving up 17 points in the third quarter really hurt us. Fatigue and sickness caught up to us, but I’m still very proud of our girls for staying mentally tough and fighting until the final buzzer.

“Kendall Osborne is a great player for Jellico, and she had a strong impact on the game,” she added. “This is only the beginning for us — we have a lot to correct and improve. We’ll take it one week at a time.”
