Ellis Erupts for 32 as Corbin Downs Berea

CORBIN — Corbin picked up its first win of the season Tuesday night, defeating Berea 71-57 and improving to 1-3 on the year.
The Redhounds came out fast, building an 18-3 lead in the first quarter before taking a 32-21 advantage into halftime. Corbin maintained control in the second half, leading 51-44 entering the fourth quarter before pulling away down the stretch.
“We played with solid effort tonight,” Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski said. “Battled through some stretches where Berea cut into our lead and got the win. A step in the right direction.”
Evan Ellis led the Redhounds with a game-high 32 points, knocking down three 3-pointers and going 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Eli Pietrowski added 17 points to give Corbin a balanced scoring punch.
“Evan continues to play at a high level,” Pietrowski added. “Eli had a big second half for us. Trey and Lucas are showing sign of rounding into form as well. We have a stretch of important practices for our team. It’s important we get better in numerous areas.”
