PINEVILLE — Tony Pietrowski’s Corbin Redhounds hung with Tennessee’s Tri-Cities Christian Academy before falling, 96-65, during Saturday’s Pride of the Mountain’s Showcase.
The loss dropped the Redhounds to 0-2 with another tough game scheduled Monday at home against 11th Region power Madison Central.
“Played a very talented team today, couple that with the fact they shot it extremely well and it was just too much for right now,” Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski said. “I’ve seen some stretches of really good play that is encouraging. I’ve also seen some really poor stretches of play. This team needs practices and reps, we will look much different a month from now. Evan and Eli played really well today. We can build off of that.”
Corbin trailed 27-20 at the end of the first quarter and 42-35 at halftime before Tri-Cities Christian put the game away by outscoring the Redhounds, 28-14, in the third quarter. Corbin was outscored 26-16 in the game’s final eight minutes as Tri-Cities Christian academy secured the win.
Evan Ellis led the Redhounds with 26 points while Eli Pietrowski finished with 24 points.
