Colonels rally to knock off Harlan County on the road

HARLAN — It wasn’t easy, but in the end, Eric Swords’ Whitley County Colonels got a huge road win on Saturday, slipping past Harlan County, 76-71.

It snapped the Colonels’ four-game losing skid to the Black Bears as Whitley County won for the first time over Harlan County since 2019.

The win also improved Swords’ team to 2-0 while the Black Bears fall to 0-1.

“Great win for guys,” Swords said. “We got down big early, but our guys did a great job of adjusting and we kept battling. Harlan County is a great, tough team and our guys answered the call. Extremely proud of our guys, But it don’t get any easier as Boyle County comes to town on Monday. Go Colonels.”
