BARBOURVILLE — Chris Taylor’s Barbourville Tigers dropped their season-opener, a 44-41 decision to Wayne County.
The game was tied at 41 apiece and was a nail-biter throughout until the Cardinals’ knocked down the game-winning shot at the buzzer.
Barbourville led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter, and 21-20 at halftime before getting outscored, 24-20, during the second half.
Logan Stepp turned in a team-best 14-point effort in the game for the Tigers while Ian Ross had 11 points and Chase Wilder added 10 points.
The loss drops Barbourville to 0-1 on the season. The Tigers will be back in action at home on December 9 against Oneida Baptist.
