Jaguars’ ground game dominates during 35-6 win over Madison Southern

LONDON — North Laurel’s ground game dominated once again as the Jaguars moved on to second round action of the Class 4A playoffs.

Steve Nelson’s squad cruised to a 35-6 win behind two rushing touchdowns by Cooper Robinson while Jude McWhorter, and Bryson Nantz found pay dirt running the ball as well.

McWhorter also had a passing touchdown to Braxton Fultz, as the Jaguars improved to 9-2.

North Laurel now awaits to face the winner of West Jessamine and Southwestern next Friday.

If the Colts win, then the Jaguars will be on the road, but if the Warriors pull off the win, North Laurel will host once again.

“Anytime you can win a playoff game and advance you are happy,” Nelson said. “We got out of the game healthy and I’m happy with that. We got some issues to fix and get better for next week. I’m happy with how we played defense and ran the football tonight, we need to execute better for the next round.

“But I’m excited we get to play for one more week,” he added. “I love this team, and I’m proud of the way we fought all night. Go Jags.”
