Knox Central sweeps Barbourville to capture 51st District Championship

PINEVILLE — Knox Central completed its postseason push in dominant fashion Tuesday night, defeating Barbourville in straight sets to win the 51st District Volleyball Championship.

The Lady Panthers came out strong, holding off a furious Barbourville rally to take the opening set, 27–25. The two teams traded leads throughout, with Knox Central edging ahead late behind steady serving and net play to grab a crucial early advantage.

From there, it was all Lady Panthers.

Knox Central jumped out to a commanding 5–0 lead in the second set and never looked back, rolling to a 25–15 win. The momentum carried into the third set as the Lady Panthers raced ahead 7–0 and built on their dominance to close out the match, 25–10.

With the victory, Knox Central clinched the 51st District title and secured a berth in next week’s 13th Region Tournament. The Lady Panthers improved to 15–13 on the season, while Barbourville finished at 16–17.
