South Laurel middle school’s sixth grade basketball team turned in a state runner-up finish after falling to Elmore in the state sixth grade tournament.
The Lady Cardinals received a first round bye after turning in impressive efforts in pool play action before defeating Knox County Middle School, 38-23, in semifinal action.
Bradlyn Howard was named to the All-Tournament team.
