Corbin Returns to 13th Region Championship Game with Shutout Win Over Middlesboro

MIDDLESBORO — The Corbin Lady Redhounds are headed back to the 13th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament championship after blanking Middlesboro (14-4-1), 2-0, on Tuesday night.
The win improves Corbin to 9-11 and sets up a rematch with North Laurel in Thursday’s title game.
The Lady Jaguars have claimed both previous meetings this season — a 3-0 win on Sept. 18 and a 6-0 victory in last week’s 49th District final.
Corbin’s offense struck in the first half when Emma Massengill found the back of the net at the 11:53 mark, giving the Lady Redhounds a 1-0 lead they carried into halftime.
In the second half, Hadley Elmore extended the lead with a goal at the 33:33 mark, sealing the 2-0 victory and a return trip to the regional finals.
With the win, Corbin will look to avenge its earlier losses and capture the 13th Region title when it faces North Laurel on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
