MIDDLESBORO — The Lady Yellow Jackets made sure their home crowd went home happy Monday night, rallying late to edge Pineville in a five-set battle, 25-22, 25-17, 14-25, 21-25, 15-5.

Middlesboro improves to 4-10 on the season, while Pineville drops to 9-9.

The Lady Yellow Jackets came out strong, using multiple scoring runs to take the opening two sets.

Pineville answered in the third, racing out to an early lead and never looking back in a convincing 25-14 win. The Lady Mountain Lions kept their momentum in the fourth, putting together key mid-set runs to even the match at 2-2 with a 25-21 victory.

That set up a decisive fifth set, where Middlesboro delivered its best volleyball of the night.
