CORBIN — Former Corbin High School boys’ and girls’ soccer coach Armando Cima received the highest honor after spending 30 years on the side as a soccer coach at Corbin.
The boys’ and girls’ soccer field at Central Primary was named Cima Field on Saturday.
“Cima Field” is named after Coach Armando Cima, who was the first soccer coach for the boys and girls soccer teams at Corbin High School. During his 30-year coaching career, his teams accomplishments include 11 District Championships, 10 Regional Championships, 6 Elite Eight appearances, and 1 Final Four appearance (as well as a 2A state runner-up). His teams garnered over 300 wins, placing Coach Cima among the top 10 winningest soccer coaches in the state.
Coach Cina credits his programs success to the committed student athletes, parents, workers, and boosters who have supported the program, especially Brian “Pete” Booth and Coach Cima’s family (wife, Karen, and children, Trey, Gabe and Sophie).
