Mountaineers advance in All “A” Soccer State Tournament  

HAZARD — The Oneida Baptist Mountaineers extended their win streak to five games with a dominant 7-0 victory over Hazard in the All “A” State Sectional. The win pushes Oneida Baptist’s record to 10-2 on the season and secures them a spot in the next round.

Henrique Gabardo powered the Mountaineers’ offense with a hat trick, while Amadeus Martin added two goals. Mike Dawit and Nahom Yuna each chipped in a goal to round out the scoring in the decisive win.

“Happy with the win tonight on the road,” Oneida Baptist coach Hunter House said. “We were able to get a lot of guys some minutes since it’s a big week for us. We finish with a district match on Thursday versus Whitley and we will now advance to play Louisville Collegiate on Saturday in the All A state.”

The Mountaineers will now turn their attention to Whitley County on Thursday before facing Louisville Collegiate in Saturday’s All “A” State action.
