Red-hot Jaguars run win streak to five games

SOMERSET — North Laurel won its fifth game in row, defeating Southwestern, 4-0, on Tuesday while improving to 6-4-1 during the process.

“I felt we came out flat tonight to start the game and it didn’t improve much as the game went on,” North Laurel coach David Broyles said. “We were sluggish and slow to the ball tonight, just not our best effort. We finally were able to break through midway through the first half when Malik Turner found Jaxon Jacobs with a nice cross.

“I thought we would come out a little stronger in the second half, but we still continued to struggle,” he added. “We were able to double our lead when Malik Turner assisted Zach Jacobs to make it 2-0. It stayed that way till late in the half when  Tucker Ebersole assisted Malik Turner. We were able to cap off the scoring with Malik collecting his 3rd assist of the night off a Jaxon Jacobs goal. The bright spot of the night was Jaron Edwards getting his first and much deserved clean sheet of the year. We will have to come out with more energy tomorrow against a good Wayne County team.”
