PINEVILLE — Barbourville used a balanced attack and timely runs to secure a 3–1 victory over Pineville in 51st District volleyball action Thursday night.
The Lady Tigers dropped the opening set, 25–22, as Pineville rallied late to take control after trailing 21–20. But Barbourville answered in the second set, pulling away with a 7–0 run late to even the match with a 25–18 win.
Momentum carried over in a back-and-forth third set. Pineville fought off two set points to tie things at 24, but Barbourville capitalized on consecutive points to close out a thrilling 26–24 win.
The Lady Tigers finished strong in the fourth, putting together a 5–0 run late to secure a 25–19 victory and the match.
With the win, Barbourville improves to 5–7 overall and 2–1 in district play. Pineville slips to 4–7 on the season and 0–2 in the district.
