North Laurel Rolls Past Whitley County, 9-1

LONDON — Playing a tough slate to begin the season is starting to pay off, as the North Laurel Jaguars are finding their rhythm.

The Jaguars notched their second straight victory Tuesday, cruising past Whitley County, 9-1.

The win pushed North Laurel to 3-4-1 overall and 2-0 in 49th District play. The Colonels are now 4-3 and 0-2 in district play.

North Laurel’s attack was relentless, with Reilly Stuber and Jaxon Jacobs each recording hat tricks. Eli Davis, Zach Jacobs, and Colt Wilson also found the back of the net, giving the Jaguars a balanced scoring effort in the district matchup.

“I thought we played well tonight,” North Laurel coach David Broyles said. “We came out aggressive and possessed the ball. We connected passes and that led to goals.  I thought we were disciplined with our play and found the open man for the easier goals tonight.

“Reilly Stuber was finally able to get in the scoring column with a PK and finished the night with a hat trick,” he added. “Jaxon Jacobs finished with two goals and two assists, Zach Jacobs had a goal and an assist, Malik Turner had two assists, Cam Anderson had an assist, and Eli Davis and Colt Wilson added a goal apiece.

“Overall, this was a team effort with some much needed scoring to get some players going,” he added. “Good win and now to get prepared for OBI on Thursday.”

The Jaguars will look to carry their momentum into Thursday’s road test against defending 13th Region champion Oneida Baptist.
