Lady Redhounds shut out in season-opener

CORBIN — Corbin’s season-opener didn’t turn out the way coach Hannah Goins had hoped with the Lady Redhounds suffering a 3-0 setback to Southwestern.
Corbin’s offense never got on track on Monday, resulting in its three-goal loss. The Lady Redhounds will be back in action at home Thursday against Danville.

“Southwestern is a good team we knew it would be a challenge going in, especially for the first game of the season,” Goins said. “I think it’s good to play tough teams going in, I think it helps to show our weaknesses and what we need to continue working on. With that said, overall, I think we played well. We improved on a few things from our scrimmages.

“We played hard and stepped the ball better than we did in our scrimmages,” she added. “Of course, we still have some things to work on but I’m pleased with the improvements we’ve already made from our scrimmages to now.”
